European AI companies include Mistral AI, Aleph Alpha, DeepL, Helsing, Synthesia and ElevenLabs. These AI product companies have documented European operations; the selection is not a ranking of the biggest firms.
For teams filed by city, use the European startup directory. For the biggest company, first say whether you mean revenue, headcount or model usage. Those measures need comparable evidence. This page does not invent a winner.
Last verifiedWhat counts here
This directory covers organisations whose products are AI systems and whose own pages establish European operations. The geographical scope includes the United Kingdom. An operating base, a registered office and the nationality of a parent company are different facts; a European office does not establish European ownership.
A startup can qualify. A large industrial group does not qualify solely because it deploys AI. The list is selected for distinct product fields and checkable company sources, rather than funding, sponsorship or name recognition.
For company founders and executives, consult the leaders directory. That directory has a wider scope, including company research leadership; inclusion there does not automatically establish eligibility for this product-company shortlist.
A sourced shortlist, not a top
The order is alphabetical. Each row records what the official pages support as checked on 31 October 2026. An address is reported as an address, rather than assumed to be the sole headquarters.
| Company | AI products and verified roles | European base and official sources |
|---|---|---|
| Aleph Alpha | Develops specialised language models, including Kolibri. Its management page names Ilhan Scheer as CEO. | The company site publishes a Heidelberg address and additional offices in Berlin, Bayreuth and Munich. Checked 31 October 2026. |
| DeepL | Provides language AI products for translation and writing. Its company page names Jarek Kutylowski as founder and CEO; the publisher page uses Jaroslaw Kutylowski. | About DeepL describes the products and leadership. The publisher page lists DeepL SE in Cologne. Checked 31 October 2026. |
| ElevenLabs | Builds AI audio models and products for speech generation, speech recognition and conversational agents. | The about page describes its products. Its careers page lists main offices in London and Warsaw alongside New York and San Francisco. These are operating locations, not a claim of exclusively European ownership. Checked 31 October 2026. |
| Helsing | Develops AI-defined autonomous systems for defence. | The company site describes the products; its imprint publishes a Munich address for Helsing SE. Checked 31 October 2026. |
| Mistral AI | Builds models, developer tools and applications. Its about page names Arthur Mensch as co-founder and CEO, Guillaume Lample as co-founder and chief science officer, and Timothée Lacroix as co-founder and CTO. | The about page describes its European roots. The legal notice publishes a Paris registered office. Checked 31 October 2026. |
| Synthesia | Provides an AI video platform. Its about page names Victor Riparbelli as CEO and co-founder. | The about page and subprocessors page publish a London address for Synthesia Ltd. Checked 31 October 2026. |
The European base is the geographical inclusion criterion. It does not establish where every workload runs, where customer data is stored or which entity a customer will contract with. Check those separately for the product and contract being considered.
How to use the shortlist
What “biggest” would need to mean
A defensible size comparison needs a measure, a date and a consistent reporting boundary. Group revenue cannot be compared with one product's usage; a parent company's employees cannot be compared with a subsidiary's team. This directory has no comparable dataset that would support such a ranking.
Inclusion also does not imply a supplier recommendation, a sponsorship relationship, Summit participation or availability for a private engagement. Use the sources to begin a company check, then evaluate the product against your own needs.

Frequently asked questions
What are the top AI companies in Europe?
There is no single official top. The sourced examples on this page are Aleph Alpha, DeepL, ElevenLabs, Helsing, Mistral AI and Synthesia. Each ships AI products and has documented European operations. This is a shortlist for further checking, not a ranking.
What are the biggest AI companies in Europe?
Revenue, headcount and model usage would produce different lists. This page does not have a comparable filing set for any of them, so it does not publish a biggest-company ranking. A broad industrial or software group is not included solely because it uses AI.
Does Europe have any AI companies?
Yes. Mistral publishes a Paris registered office, Aleph Alpha a Heidelberg address, DeepL a Cologne address and Synthesia a London address. Helsing publishes a Munich address. ElevenLabs lists operating hubs in London and Warsaw as well as in the United States.
What is the difference between this company list and the startup directory?
The startup page groups startups, scale-ups and platforms by city connection. This page identifies AI product companies with European operations supported by official sources. Some names appear in both because the pages answer different questions.
