Biography

Artem Khvastunov is Head of Professional Services at JetBrains, a department he built from the ground up. He came to it through the products themselves, first as a developer building IDE features, then leading the GoLand team, and later across JetBrains' IDE organization, work driven by the same goal throughout: making software development more productive and enjoyable. That progression from writing the tools to running the organization around them informs what he pays attention to now: how AI is reshaping enterprise software delivery, and what it takes for an organization to adapt its processes as fast as its teams adopt the tools.

    Keynote 57 - Everyone Is 10x. The Company Isn't.

    Wednesday 23 September, 15:40 – 15:55Auditorium Stage

A year ago, getting developers to use AI was the hard part. It isn't anymore. Give them agents, and they'll use them: three to five each, chosen per task, every choice defensible on its own. What breaks now is everything around them. Knowledge stays trapped in whichever tool produced it. Spend is visible per tool, not per piece of work. Policies cover some agents and not others. Work stops at every handoff. Artem Khvastunov leads Professional Services at JetBrains. This talk is one engagement in detail, the hardest one his team has run so far. The organization in question: 3,000+ people, twenty-six years of products, ownership boundaries drawn long before agents existed, and a culture where nothing is ever adopted by decree. AI spend rose roughly tenfold in six months, and answering one basic question — what did this piece of work cost us — took four days of manual spreadsheet work. Standardizing on a single AI tool was the obvious fix and the wrong one. What worked instead, and how much of it transfers.
