The Epistemic Core

Biography

Dr. Leon Tsvasman is a media and communication scholar, cybernetician, philosopher of AI and founder of The Epistemic Core, an independent research and orientation initiative focused on human agency, epistemic autonomy and governance in AI-mediated environments. His work connects second-order cybernetics, ontocybernetics, complexity, communication theory, information science and AI ethics with the design of decision architectures that preserve human judgment, accountability and autonomous becoming. He is Professor at LIGS University, a Fellow of the Cybernetics Society (FCybS, UK), academic lecturer, author and editor, including Cybernetic Leadership for Sustainable Innovation (2026). He teaches, advises and supervises Master’s and doctoral research across universities in Germany and internationally. His recent work develops concepts such as Sapiocracy, Sapiopoiesis and Trajectory AI to distinguish human orientation from automated execution and to examine how AI systems and institutions can remain corrigible, epistemically responsible and compatible with human integrity under conditions of technological complexity.

Panel 15 - Who's Really Deciding? Human Agency in the Age of AI

    Wednesday 23 September, 13:00 – 13:40Panel Stage

An algorithm nudges what your kid reads before bed. A hiring filter decides who a recruiter never sees. A health app flags what's wrong before your doctor does. None of this is speculative — it's this year's default UX. As AI mediates more of daily life — work, health, relationships, money, parenting — how much control do people actually keep, and how much do they just assume they still have? Voices from product, psychology, and policy separate where human agency genuinely holds from where it's already quietly gone. 40 minutes.
